Talerang prepares students and professionals for careers based on a proprietary curriculum, delivered using global best-practices. Talerang began as an independent research project at Harvard Business School.

When a boomerang is thrown with high spin, its wings produce lift, through which it flies in a curve rather than in a straight line. We do the same with talent. Our Story
Talerang was born with a determined spirit to give every student in India an opportunity to live their dream. The initial hope was to put every student, no matter where they have been born or studied, on the right career path.In her time as Director at Teach for India, our Founder and CEO Shveta Raina spoke to thousands of students across the country. The narrative was startling. They were confused about their career path, worried about following their passion, most of them felt unprepared for entering the work world and had limited practical exposure. They also lacked mentors who could give them trusted and verified advice. Shveta realized the magnitude of the problem and the possibility it had to disillusion the Indian youth and affect India’s economy.
Talerang’s formal research began when Shveta was a student at Harvard Business School in 2012. She conducted an independent project along with her Professor Das Narayan Das and in partnership with Talerang’s Curriculum Lead (Sinhali Deshpande). Their pilots at some of India’s best colleges found that under 60% of students felt ready to take on a job. Less than 50% of students had mentors they could seek out. They also spoke to leading CEOs and HR heads at organizations such as the Tata and Birla groups, only to find that companies were equally worried about the work-readiness crisis.This had become more than just a research project. It had grown into a mission.
Talerang was born in 2013 to be a simple, high quality solution to India’s work readiness crisis. Talerang offers career training to students and professionals with the purpose of creating a work-ready India. Our focus is helping candidates to know themselves, then prepare themselves (hard and soft skills) and eventually learn the art of proving themselves in the field they choose. In 2016, we visited several colleges in smaller towns across Andhra Pradesh in partnership with a Harvard-Stanford research team. We gained new insights and decided to go online, with the hope to reach ambitious students at every college across the nation and get them to their dream careers. We announced the launch of our platform, Talerang Online in 2018.
In 2019, Talerang completely transitioned to an online model offering a variety of industry recognised certificate programs, with access to internship and job opportunities at our 400+ corporate partners. From bite sized certificate courses to a year long Post Graduate Certificate Program, we have a varied product range for age groups from 13+.
