Work Ready India: Skills for a Future-Ready Career

During an insightful discussion, Shveta Raina, CEO and Founder of Talerang, and Aarati Rajwade, General Medicine Sales Head at GSK, talked about the most crucial problem of work-readiness in India’s youth. Their discussion enlightened us as to why this is the pivotal problem of India’s economic growth and how it can define India’s future if tackled.

Shveta laid emphasis on the point that equipping the youth with the necessary skills is crucial for success in the current competitive landscape of the workforce while Aarati supplemented that although India has grown traditionally through IT services, sectors like pharma, manufacturing, and other industries today demand a skilled and dynamic workforce.

“For companies to grow,” Aarati said, “workers must realize their roles and perform optimally. This will enable companies to tap talent and speed up the nation’s development through increased productivity and GDP growth.

Reversing the brain drain by positioning India as a “destination of choice” for international talent was a significant suggestion. She observed that this would be possible only if Indian youth were prepared for high-end opportunities. With the growth of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in industries such as Biocare and technology, she emphasized the need to create a ready-now talent pool to maintain pace.

“If we can get this workforce ready,” Aarati  said, “we’ll see amazing gains in hiring, productivity, and finally our economy.”

Shveta added her final thoughts on linking work-readiness to India’s broader economic goals while reiterating that enabling young professionals with employable skills has a ripple effect of enabling industries and GDP growth.

This thoughtful conversation is indeed a call to action for all stakeholders to make skill-building a top priority. Together, let’s empower India’s youth to innovate and lead with purpose, securing the best possible future for everyone.
