Talvantage Session 1-Alibaug
Let the journey begin
I was caught by surprise when my inbox blinked of an email stating we would need to assemble at the magnificent Gateway of India at 8 am on a Sunday morning. Yes, as you may or may not have guessed we were going to ALIBAUG, which made the cancelling of Saturday night plans, the waking up at ridiculously early hours all worth it!
All 22 of us ready to create a good first impression assembled at the crack of dawn in semi formals under the ancient arcs of the Gateway of India. Both anxious but full of excitement at what our First day at Talerang had in store for us.
We were 22 strangers and so the small talk began and suddenly my brain was flooded with Mahimas, Shreyas, Sejals, Nikitas, Parths, Xaviers, HR, IIT.
In the course of the day there was just so much to take away.
From the listening skills that Anjali Raina Executive Director, Harvard Business School India Research Centre who shed light on to establishing where each of us wants to be 6 months down the program.
I learnt about lives of complete strangers. And it was amazing to see how everyone was so open to share about his or her success and failure with absolute outsiders. They started out as just a face and name to me but at the end of that session that same face had a meaning, personality and a great story backing them.
Some parts of the day like the HBS case and other best practices in leadership training were challenging and miles beyond my comfort zone but I was able to face my fear and come out stronger.
The sessions also helped me come up with the values that drive me. Which was pretty fantastic because in the daily routine of life I never take the time out to think of what values are important to me, who has had an impact on my life and what I want to be in the future.
It is always important to look in the rearview mirror and the thought that failure makes success sweeter were learnings I will cherish forever.
I cannot wait to grow and network with the outstanding minds in the course of the program! Here are some photographs of our first day. To say the least my Sunday was nothing short of magical.
